Pay Rate: $17.60 per hour

Season: April – November 2026

The Port Hope Golf & Country Club winds through the historic grounds of Penryn Park on the bluffs of Lake Ontario, offering a scenic and challenging 18-hole course. As a premier golf destination, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our members and guests — including a high-quality culinary experience in our Clubhouse.

We are currently seeking experienced and creative Line Cooks to join our kitchen team for the 2026 season.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and General Manager, this is a full-time seasonal position.

About the Role

Line Cooks play a vital role in meal preparation, ensuring that each dish meets our standards for taste, quality, and presentation while adhering to food safety regulations.

Each cook is responsible for completing daily prep and cleaning lists and performing all opening and closing duties as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

You will contribute to a professional, efficient, and team-focused kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare food according to the Chef’s specifications and recipes
  • Set up and maintain daily mise-en-place
  • Maintain and uphold the line during service
  • Understand proper timing of dishes and deliver accordingly
  • Demonstrate general professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Ensure proper handling and care of kitchen equipment and utensils

Cleaning & Closing Duties

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and prep area
  • Complete daily prep and cleaning lists
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure closing cleaning duties are completed (e.g., flipping inserts, filtering deep fryers, equipment cleaning)

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow and uphold hygiene and safety standards set by Public Health and Food Services
  • Maintain familiarity with WHMIS and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and safety practices

Teamwork & Communication

  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams
  • Maintain professionalism during busy service periods
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a team-oriented approach

Experience & Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of hands-on culinary experience preferred
  • High School Diploma required
  • Valid Food Safety Certification required
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions in English; must be fluent in English
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Valid Food Safety Certificate
