The primary role of the Housekeeper is to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in all guest and resident rooms and common areas in accordance with YWCA Banff standards. A Housekeeper promotes a positive image of YWCA Banff and must be friendly and able to address problems or special requests as they arise.
What You’ll Do
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clean all areas of the facility, including, residences, common areas, meeting spaces, programming rooms, and common washrooms to department standards
- Attend to laundry
- Make beds, sweep, mop, dust, and clean washrooms
- Perform rotation cleaning duties, including deep cleaning, as required
- Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with the YWCA Health and Safety program
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas such as the laundry room, linen closets, and storage rooms
- Restock carts at the end of each day with supplies, including ensuring spray bottles are properly labelled
- Label, bag, and store items found in rooms and common areas, and notify applicable departments
- Report maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Lead, Facilities Manager, Maintenance, or through the task tracker
- Report discrepancies in room status to the Housekeeping Lead or Facilities Manager
- Set up and take down rooms for groups, courses, workshops, and functions
- Sort recycling and remove garbage
- Move furniture and equipment as required
- Support general cleaning and facilities duties as assigned
- Report any persons not abiding by YWCA Banff policies to Facilities Manager and/or appropriate department
Qualifications & Experience
Specific skills and knowledge qualifications include:
- Previous housekeeping experience, considered an asset
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg, bend, kneel, stand, and move for extended periods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to everyday pressures that occur in a housing, and community-service environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize ongoing duties
- Ability to work with the general public and engage respectfully with a diverse client, resident, guest, and staff population
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Position Details
Housekeeper is a year-round position at approximately
37.5 hours per week. Days off are to be determined and working hours will be flexible to accommodate operational needs.
Starting wage: $21.50/hour
