What you’ll do
Quality Systems Management: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and internal standards.
Process Improvement & Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and present process and quality data daily to improve process stability, reduce scrap, improve yield, and lower cost. Success means measurable reductions in scrap and rework on key projects.
Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Conduct inspections, audits, and defect analysis; lead root cause investigations using systematic problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and PDCA. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify their effectiveness.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing operations, plant scheduling, and development center teams to support new product introductions, foundry tooling development, and process qualification activities.
Manufacturing Trials & Tooling Oversight: Coordinate, witness, and document manufacturing trials; oversee tooling fabrication, modifications, and inspections ensuring adherence to site standards.
ERP Data Integrity & Documentation: Maintain full ownership of ERP data elements for Bills of Materials (BOM) and Routes, coordinating timely and accurate data entry. Create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation including procedures and work instructions.
Floor Engagement: Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor (targeting 50/50 split after initial 6 months) interacting with operators and teams to understand and improve processes.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel expected, primarily for learning and collaboration purposes.

What you’ll bring
Must-haves
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, material science, manufacturing, or related engineering field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, chemical, or materials engineering, preferably in a steel foundry or heavy manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency in complex problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma methodologies.
Excellent communication, documentation skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong organizational skills.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with foundry casting processes and familiarity with 3D CAD and casting simulation tools.
Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement training.
Previous roles as process engineer, quality engineer, mechanical, metallurgical, or chemical engineer.
Experience working directly on the manufacturing floor engaging with operators and cross-functional teams.
