Games Coordinator (GC)

Becoming a GC will allow you to get involved and meet new people in the league each night. This is a great opportunity to be a leader and help coordinate ESSC league nights!
This position involves overseeing the games at the facility, setting up the equipment, meeting team captains, starting games, monitoring the action by calling plays or penalties as required, and submitting game reports to the ESSC office. This is an active job, requiring 2-4 shifts per week.
Start Date
We have 4 seasons annually:
Fall (September - December)
Winter (January to March)
Spring (April to June)
Summer (July to August).
Successful candidates can start as soon as possible.

4-16 hours per week
Shifts are available 7 days a week depending on the season
GC's have the flexibility to change their availability seasonally
Key Responsibilities
Arrive at the facility 15 minutes prior to 1st game.
Organize equipment; get ready for the games.
Host a captains meeting before the game; discuss key rules, set expectations. Repeat at halftime.
Monitor the games by assigning penalties/fouls as required, moving along the floor/field with the action and keeping score.
Have a loud voice and presence, announce time and score updates.
Complete a game report for each game and submit online the following day by 5:00pm

Compensation
Hourly Rate of Pay
$19.00/hour to start. GCs can obtain raises after the completion of their 4th and 8th season. For a breakdown of potential hourly earnings, please see below:

The rate of pay comes into fruition at the completion of the above mentioned seasons. A GC must work at least 21 hours in a season for it count as a full season worked.
Bonus Opportunities
At the ESSC, we pride ourselves on rewarding GCs for their efforts and instilling a performance based culture. A successful GC can earn a Performance Bonus upward of $1.00/hr. for hard work, dedication, and strong player ratings throughout the season.
We encourage all GCs to participate within the league on nights that they are not scheduled to work. In an effort to get more staff involved in the game, GCs are offered a Playing Bonus based on the amount of hours worked in a season. Below is a breakdown of the GC Playing Bonus scale:

The Company
The Edmonton Sport & Social Club was founded in 2004 based on a rising need: adult Edmontonians love to play sports and have fun! The goal of the ESSC is to encourage as many people as possible to ‘get in the game’. Whether players have no skill, or a lot of skill, as long as they want to join in the ‘fun-first, winning-second’ mentality, they will fit right in! With a large variety of leagues, tournaments and events throughout the year, the ESSC offers something for everyone.
