The Diocese of Hamilton is looking for a part-time Housekeeper/Cook (20 hours/week). Reporting to the Auxiliary Bishop, this position offers a competitive rate of pay, health and dental benefits, and a pension plan, and requires a commitment to working the outlined hours, with some flexibility when needed to prepare occasional additional meals (e.g., for special events or guests).

Primary Responsibilities

Housekeeping

• Perform daily cleaning of all rooms including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living areas
• Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors
• Laundry care including washing, folding, ironing, and organizing clothing
• Changing bed linens and making beds
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of household items and storage areas
• Monitoring and restocking cleaning supplies as needed
• Occasional deep cleaning tasks (windows, appliances, closets, etc.)

Cooking

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to household preferences and dietary needs
• Grocery shopping or assisting with grocery lists and inventory management
• Ensure proper food storage and kitchen hygiene
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and cooking equipment after use
• Adapt menus for dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences

Requirements

• Education: high school or equivalent
• Well developed culinary skills; ability to prepare regular meals
• Well developed cleaning skills
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions

The successful candidate will be required to obtain the Ontario Food Handler Certificate (reimbursed by The Diocese) or provide proof of current certification.
