About Offworld Industries

Offworld Industries Ltd. (Offworld) is the independent studio behind the successful military first-person shooter game, “Squad”. Offworld was formed in 2014 by more than 15 developers who had worked together on the well known Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. The founding purpose of the team was to bring a standalone successor of this acclaimed mod to market and build a game development studio and a livelihood from that foundation.

Fast forward to 2026, Offworld has over 150 employees and is rapidly growing. We have been expanding the studio into serving as a publisher supporting mods and have released our newest title, "Starship Troopers: Extermination", a 16-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film.

We are seeking a versatile DevOps & Build Engineer to bridge the gap between our game development workflows and our infrastructure operations. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust build pipelines for Unreal Engine game projects, while simultaneously managing, securing, and scaling our cloud and on-premise infrastructure. You will be a champion of automation, ensuring that our development, testing, and deployment processes are efficient, cost-effective, and highly available.

Job Duties

  • Pipeline Development & Optimization: Design, maintain, and improve Unreal-Engine-based build pipelines and automation tools to reduce wait times and optimize content delivery.
  • Infrastructure Management: Improve, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot studio cloud (AWS) and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and security.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Champion automation to solve build, testing, and deployment challenges. Implement, deploy, and operate testing and profiling frameworks.
  • Release Management: Coordinate and manage build and deployment workflows for multiple products across hardware platforms and storefronts. Develop robust workflows for LiveOps environments.
  • Monitoring & Security: Expand monitoring, logging, and alerting tools. Enhance IT infrastructure security protocols to protect against cyber threats.
  • Firefighting and Support: Act as the primary point of contact for critical build and infrastructure incidents, providing rapid troubleshooting and on-call support to resolve production blockers and ensure pipeline stability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with game teams to optimize build pipelines, workflows, and provide guidance on DevOps principles.
  • Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current with new technologies, champion software development best practices, perform code reviews, and provide recommendations for architectural improvements.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of production-level experience as a DevOps or Cloud Engineer, preferably in the games or film industry.
  • Build Systems: Strong proficiency in CI/CD build systems (e.g., Jenkins) for game builds. Ability to set up performant pipelines using Unreal Engine tools (Automation System, BuildGraph, UnrealGameSync).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Solid experience managing cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)..
  • Scripting & Coding: Advanced skills in Python for automation. Proven ability to work with Groovy/JobDSL (for Jenkins), PowerShell, Bash, and other shell scripting languages.
  • Source Control: In-depth knowledge of Perforce is essential; experience with Git is highly valued.
  • Containerization: Experience in deploying and managing virtualized resources and containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • System Administration: Solid foundation in deploying/administering Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving attitude, initiative, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related IT discipline.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in AAA game development using Unreal Engine 5.
