AltaGas - Terminal Operator 2, North Pine

Join AltaGas at our North Pine Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Facility, where you’ll play an integral role in safely and efficiently managing rail yard operations. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated individual who thrives in a hands-on environment and takes pride in maintaining high safety and operational standards.

Depending on experience, the annual base salary for this role is between $66,000 – $87,550/ year. Terminal Operators are also provided various allowances in addition to their base salary and are eligible to participate in all benefits programs from day one.

You Will

  • Load railcars with LPG’s (Propane and Butane).
  • Snow removal on railway tracks and rail yard.
  • Move railcars utilizing a railcar mover and conductor.
  • Ensures the overall safe and efficient Operation of the Rail Offloading Facility.
  • Understands and complies with the Canadian Railway Operating Rules in the rail yard.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Loading and yard management within the Rail System and maintains good communication within the yard.
  • Confirm cars are properly loaded, sealed and prepared for shipment.
  • Communicate daily with the commercial group to co-ordinate loading and organize the rail yard in preparation to ship or receive rail cars.
  • Shows and increased awareness with regards to loading efficiencies and well versed in coordination of rail yard activities.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge to enhance Operator competence and experience to advance to the next level as outlined in our Operations Training Program.
  • Ensures that good practices as per safety and operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Able to issue permits, conduct CJC’s and Hazard Assessments when required.
  • Reports any health, safety, security or environmental concerns through EHS management system incident reporting.
  • Ensure operating team maintains good housekeeping practices throughout the Rail yard, leading by example.
  • Ability to properly identify report and communicate plant equipment and safety deviations through MAXIMO, Hazard ID’s and Operations Log.
  • Remains competent in loading and switching operations through yearly review of Operations Procedures, Lock out Procedures, Operations Workbook’s and Syllabus.

You Have

  • Oil and Gas experience and Heavy Equipment Operating experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to identify and respond quickly to operating deviations to maintain safe operating conditions and minimize downtime.
  • Understand environmental impacts, health, safety, and security risks.
  • H2S Alive, First Aid, CPR, Confined Space Entry certifications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge would be considered an asset
