About Your Future Team
Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, experienced Electrical Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. As part of the team, you will tackle challenges and deliver something that has never been done before.
As a Senior Electrical Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), you will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and certification of systems on Horizon Aircraft’s prototype and production aircraft. This includes both the conventional turbine elements of the hybrid-electric powerplant and the electric motor and rotor drive systems unique to the Cavorite X7 platform.
Your Day- To-Day
- Perform maintenance, inspection, and certification of aircraft electrical systems including power distribution, avionics wiring, high-voltage battery systems, and motor controllers.
- Sign off on maintenance releases and complete required regulatory documentation in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
- Troubleshoot complex electrical faults on prototype aircraft using schematics, diagnostic tools, and first-principles analysis.
- Support the design and review of Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) documentation and maintenance manuals.
- Collaborate with the propulsion and systems engineering teams to validate electrical installation and integration on the Cavorite X7.
- Participate in airworthiness compliance activities, including conformity inspections and substantiation documentation for TC/TCCA certification.
- Develop and refine maintenance procedures, task cards, and AMM content for novel electrical and hybrid-electric systems.
- Mentor junior AMEs and provide technical guidance across the maintenance team.
- Maintain a safe working environment and champion a culture of airworthiness and quality throughout all activities.
Required
Your Profile:
- Valid Transport Canada AME licence (M2 or E category, or equivalent).
- Minimum 7 years of aircraft electrical maintenance experience on fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft.
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, EWIS standards (e.g., AC 43-13, EWIS best practices), and CAR 571/573.
- Experience with high-voltage or hybrid-electric systems (automotive, aerospace, or industrial).
- Proficiency reading and interpreting aircraft wiring diagrams, schematics, and IPC documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex troubleshooting tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical documentation skills and experience completing regulatory maintenance records.
Preferred
- Experience on developmental or experimental aircraft programs.
- Familiarity with eVTOL or UAM aircraft systems.
- Exposure to TC type certification or STC processes.
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and high-voltage safety protocols.
- Avionics installation or troubleshooting background.

Location.
We are located just outside of Lindsay, in the Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario, Canada. Our team is onsite at our facility. We offer relocation allowances in appropriate cases.
