A Day in Your Life at MKS
As a Junior CNC Machinist (Apprentice) at MKS Instruments, you will partner with Engineering and Manufacturing Teams to fabricate precision machined parts and support production operations. In this role, you will report to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
You Will Make an Impact By
- Operating CNC equipment to fabricate precision components
- Loading parts, running machine cycles, and monitoring operations to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged tools
- Running production lots efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Identifying and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to management
- Performing inspection of machined products and accurately documenting results
- Maintaining production records, inspection documentation, and required paperwork
Skills You Bring
- 1+ year of related experience required
- Basic machine shop experience
- Ability to add and subtract decimals accurately
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with CNC machine operation and basic G-code concepts
- Experience using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
- Exposure to manufacturing or production environments
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to stand or remain in a stationary position for extended periods
- Frequently requires manual dexterity and coordination, including handling objects at various heights
- Occasionally moves or positions objects up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and moderate noise levels
- Regular interaction with equipment requiring adherence to safety practices involving mechanical and electrical components

Compensation
Salary Pay: $60,000 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
