As an Individual Product Manager, you will lead the development of life and critical illness solutions from concept through to launch and ongoing management. You will manage cross-functional work to improve client journeys, identify opportunities to enhance the experience, and uncover insights from market trends and competitor activity to shape a competitive, client-focused portfolio. You will partner with actuarial pricing, sales, marketing and communications, underwriting, and ops teams to create best-in-class solutions. Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do
- Spot market gaps, contribute to annual product roadmaps, lead the development and delivery of new products, reprices and enhancements that boost growth and client satisfaction – fully leveraging our mutual advantage.
- Manage projects from ideation, business case, to launch and ongoing management.
- Lead client journey mapping and recommendations for improvements in solutions and cross-team processes.
- Monitor competitors, sales data, trends, and financials. Build rock-solid business cases with market research and benchmarking.
- Ongoing maintenance of advisor and underwriting guides, policy contracts and related resources. Provide product input and expertise in project work and as needed.
- Work with sales managers, vendors, regional teams, and stakeholders to align on goals – no direct reports needed, just influence and results.
- Contribute as a product expert to product materials and sales presentations (PowerPoint pros welcome) to drive sales and excitement.
- Measure in-force performance (retention, client engagement) and new business wins, then recommend smart adjustments.
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years in Canadian life insurance and living benefits solutions, with 3+ in product management – especially participating products.
- Led product launches, managed portfolios, built business cases, and handled vendors/contracts in a regulated world, lead client journey work.
- Turn technical talk into advisor-friendly stories. Nail presentations and stakeholder buy-in.
- Balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution; high agency to deliver and iterate.
- Build relationships, influence without authority, and thrive in cross-functional teams.
- Intermediate level Excel for data analysis and reporting strong logic to connect dots; working knowledge and integration of Gen AI tools.
- Insurance industry designations would be an asset.
- University degree in Business, Commerce, Math, or related would be an asset.
- Experience in marketing, underwriting processes, or client research would be an asset.

Your base pay will be based on your skills, qualifications, experience and education. In addition to your salary, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award tied to business performance, plus a wide range of competitive benefits.
