Overview
The Supervisor II – Building Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of civic facilities within the Recreation and Culture Department. Reporting to the Manager of Civic Facilities, this working supervisor role provides leadership to maintenance staff, coordinates building maintenance projects, manages resources and budgets, and ensures facilities are maintained to a safe and high standard. The position also participates in after-hours emergency response and performs hands-on maintenance duties as required.

You are an experienced maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and a broad knowledge of building systems and trades. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can effectively manage multiple projects and priorities, and are committed to providing safe, well-maintained facilities for staff and the community.
You bring:
- Grade 12 plus a two-year Building Maintenance program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of building maintenance experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance operations, including carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and property restoration.
- Experience supervising staff and contractors, scheduling work, and managing maintenance projects.
- Experience preparing budgets, reports, and work plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and UNIT4.
- The ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.
- A valid B.C. Driver’s Licence.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
The incumbent in this class will be required to work any consecutive five (5) days within the hours of work as prescribed in published shift schedules and on occasion work overtime as authorized. Employees in this class will upon hiring have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The rate of pay for this position is $43.67(2026 rate).
