Posting Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Planning & Reporting Officer will be the key support and resource person responsible primarily for:

  • Coordinating and overseeing the collection and reporting of school data for Ministry reporting cycles and for board financial purposes;
  • OnSIS - facilitating the collection of data from all schools by providing training and support, implementing updates as directed by the Ministry, and completing the Board sign-off requirements;
  • Providing system-level guidance and support to schools when required for the collection of student information data through the Board’s Student Information System software;
  • Maintaining data and conducting analysis on enrolment projections and demographics using spreadsheets and database applications;
  • Coordinating enrolment reporting for grant purposes, assisting in providing in-service training to school administration on enrolment recording processes, and liaising with Ministry staff on enrolment inquiries and audits;
  • Assisting with the Board’s accommodation planning process including analysis of the impact of demographic trends, maintaining and updating materials on school profiles, preparing information for accommodation reports and informative PowerPoint presentations (spreadsheets, charts, tables, diagrams and maps);
  • Attendance at evening meetings as required;
  • Travel throughout the district may be required;
  • Other duties as required and assigned by the Manager of IT.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Possess post-secondary diploma/degree (Business or IT-related fields would be an asset). Equivalent education and experience (in an educational setting) may be considered.
  • Proficiency with OnSIS, Aspen, and Microsoft Office 365 is required;
  • Have a working knowledge of the Education Act and related Acts on enrolment, course credits and planning needs;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in to order interact positively and effectively with all staff at all levels of the organization including the public;
  • Excellent speaking and presentation skills to provide training workshops to school administrative staff including Principals and Vice-Principals;
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills as well as initiative to provide effective administrative support;
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.

Position Effective Date & Length

This position is located at the Sarnia Education Centre.

Non-union, 35 hours/week.

Compensation

Level 4 - $96,137/annum - $106,819/annum
