Information Technology Services (ITS)

ITS provides UNB with professional information and communication technology services, leadership, and expertise to ensure the UNB community can achieve its goals with the support of the best technologies of today and advances of tomorrow. The AV & VC Support Unit delivers enterprise operational support in planning, design, specification, purchasing, installation, programming, inventory documentation, and support for classroom, teaching spaces, meeting spaces, and audio-visual technology throughout the University.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $54,614 - $70,998 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director, Client Services, the AV/VC Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operational health, stability, and reliability of UNB's enterprise-wide AV/VC environment across supported classroom, learning, administration, and research spaces, digital displays and other related AV/VC activities as they arise. In addition, the AV/VC Technologist also provides tier 2 support incidents, problems and requests.

Install, configure, deploy, upgrade and support AV/VC equipment and services in teaching, learning, research and meeting spaces across UNB.

Prepare, deploy, configure, document, maintain, troubleshoot, replace and provide operational support for AV/VC systems and related technologies.

Prepare and stage equipment; coordinate technology replacements and room upgrades; decommission legacy equipment; and prepare assets for disposal or e-waste processing in line with UNB procedures.

Receive and manage audio-visual equipment; maintain inventory records and update the equipment database using UNB-approved systems.

Document and track issues, troubleshooting steps and resolutions in shared web-based ticketing systems.

Develop and maintain classroom support materials, including signage and instructional documentation.

Maintain accurate inventory and room attributes in UNB systems; track classroom upgrades and new installations.

Complete bi-annual audits of AV/VC equipment and services across applicable UNB spaces.

Provide technical support and consultation for AV/VC systems; troubleshoot classroom videoconferencing and related technologies via phone, email and in-person support.

Escalate and resolve classroom and meeting space technology issues and equipment repairs; track incidents, troubleshooting activities, resolutions and updates in the UNB ticketing system.

Maintain and refresh software images on classroom computers to ensure reliable performance, security and consistent system configurations.

Assist with hiring, onboarding, training and skills development when student staff are assigned to the AV/VC team. Assign and prioritize work based on skill levels; monitor work quality and professionalism in client interactions; provide guidance and operational support.

Contribute to team performance; demonstrate a positive attitude, initiative and professionalism; share ideas; and participate in departmental and university activities.

Participate in team projects and complete independent projects on time and to a high standard.

WHAT YOU BRING

Diploma in a technology field

3 years related technology work experience

Additional Strengths

Experience troubleshooting Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems

Excellent customer service skills

Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.

Must be willing to work occasional overtime, participate in regular after hours on-call or have hours adjusted

Participation in after-hours emergency response if available

Ability to prioritize work, apply evolving departmental standards and meet deadlines.

Ability to adapt to changes in work and technical environments

Exercises initiative to independently learn new technologies
