The Commercial Mortgages Sector: A Unique Asset Class

Are you interested in joining a team of experts dedicated solely to commercial mortgages, creating long-term value through diversified mortgage portfolios? Addenda Capital is the ideal place to build relationships with key market players and collaborate with colleagues from other sectors.

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Mortgages, you will play a key role in funding commercial mortgage transactions and supporting ongoing portfolio analytics. You will collaborate with internal and external parties to ensure all legal, credit and regulatory conditions are satisfied prior to funding. This role focuses on funding commercial mortgages, with opportunities to build financial analysis and risk assessment expertise through contributions to annual loan reviews and market analysis.

Your responsibilities

  • Verify all mortgage funding conditions prior to loan disbursement, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements;
  • Confirm all loan credit conditions are satisfied, including adherence to loan metric requirements;
  • Provide funding recommendations to initiate calls for investor capital once credit conditions are fully satisfied;
  • Analyze and input operating statements and leases into the loan management system to maintain accurate and reliable loan-level information;
  • Prepare annual loan reviews to assess current market value and risk, ensuring completeness and accuracy for senior approval;
  • Assess real estate market conditions and prepare quarterly presentations to support overall portfolio management;
  • Collect, review, and validate required conditions and legal amendments for mortgage renewals, extensions, and amendments;
  • Collaborate with the portfolio management team, administration team, mortgage brokers and solicitors to support timely and accurate loan funding.

What you bring

  • University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline;
  • CFA designation or enrollment in the CFA program with commitment to obtain the designation is considered an asset;
  • Experience in commercial mortgages, real estate, investment management, or banking is considered an asset;
  • Completion of the UBC Sauder School of Business Mortgage Brokerage Course within 12 months;
  • Analytical skills including the use of Excel;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fluency in the French Language is considered an asset.
