Linde Canada Inc.

General Technician (full time)

Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Canada | req31282

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the General Technician is responsible for assisting in the safe completion of day-to-day activities at the Fort Saskatchewan Air Separation Plant. This is a skilled entry level position with training and development opportunities for advancement.

What you will enjoy doing*

  • A big part of this role is making sure everything runs safely—especially around the railcar and trailer loading areas.
  • You’ll be responsible for accurately completing all the loading paperwork and data entry, so attention to detail is key.
  • From time to time, you’ll jump in and support maintenance work alongside the mechanical, electrical, and operations teams.
  • There’s a hands-on element too—things like cleaning, housekeeping, and keeping the site looking and operating well.
  • That can include tasks like painting, snow shoveling in the winter, and general yard upkeep.
  • You’ll also help with routine plant inspections to make sure everything is in good shape.
  • If you notice something off, you’ll take part in basic corrective maintenance to address it.
  • Overall, it’s a mix of safety, operations, and hands-on work to keep the plant running smoothly day to day.

What makes you great*

  • We’re looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent experience—it’s more about your hands-on skills and mindset.
  • If you have a 4th Class Power Engineering ticket, that’s a bonus, but it’s not mandatory.
  • You’ll need a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • There’s some equipment involved, like forklifts and cranes, but we’ll train you—you just need to be open to learning and operating safely.
  • A strong mechanical mindset really helps—someone who likes to understand how things work and has used basic tools before.
  • You should be comfortable taking direction, working independently, and staying productive without a lot of supervision.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) are important, and any experience reading technical drawings is a plus.
  • It’s a physical, hands-on role—you’ll need to be comfortable with lifting, working outdoors in different conditions, and occasionally working overtime or weekends.
