Maintenance and clearnliness attendant at City of Côte Saint-Luc
Main Function
Work involving the completion of various manual tasks related to cleanliness and maintenance in buildings, public restrooms, locker rooms and showers, elevators, parks, public roads, the golf course, etc. The work is performed under supervision and according to oral or written instructions. The incumbent is primarily responsible for carrying out various tasks requiring minimal to light physical effort inside buildings, such as sweeping, cleaning, washing, waxing, stripping, and polishing floors, as well as dusting, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, etc.
They must also perform various maintenance tasks in parks and on public roads, such as mowing grass, weeding, watering flowerbeds, monitoring parks, installing signs on public roads and in parks. Additionally, they must wash various vehicles and carry out different tasks on the golf course.
Working Conditions

- Compensation: 34,36 $ / hours * Schedule is rotating
Main Responsibilities
Sweeps, cleans, washes, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; removes stains from carpets; opens and closes building entrance doors; washes and cleans doors, partitions, restrooms, elevators, Venetian blinds; dusts furniture, doors, window ledges; empties ashtrays and wastebaskets; washes interior windows; collects waste and transports it to the designated collection area.
Vacuums carpets; cleans shower rooms, kitchen appliances and accessories, dishes, library shelves, etc.; prepares a list of required hygiene and cleaning products and submits it to their immediate supervisor.
Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and fuses; changing door handles; re-nailing or re-gluing wooden parts; performing minor faucet maintenance; filling wall holes with appropriate substances; installing hooks for hanging objects, etc., when the task does not require a qualified tradesperson.
Reports any defects related to plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrical systems, or others to their immediate supervisor.
Washes and disinfects restrooms, showers, and public toilets; unblocks toilets; cleans sinks, washbasins, mirrors; ensures proper ventilation of the premises.
Operates an elevator, monitors user entry, ensures they exit at the appropriate floor, informs the public about the location of various offices, and prevents unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas.
Receives locker rental tickets to provide locker room and shower services; hands out keys, towels, soap, paper sandals; retrieves keys and towels after use; enforces regulations to maintain order and expels loiterers.
Welcomes clients, takes clothing and shoe covers, stores them; gives clients corresponding tokens and returns their personal belongings according to the token number provided.
Cuts grass on greens, repairs damaged turf caused by players’ shoes and clubs, aerates and perforates the turf using appropriate machines.
Drives a three‑wheeled utility vehicle and collects debris littering public roads and parks in the assigned sector; removes graffiti from urban furniture by scraping or other means; ensures the cleanliness of the vehicle.
Installs, removes, and stores no‑parking signs; monitors parks; enforces regulations; informs the public; writes reports on park activities; cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, basins, and water features; assists with various motorized equipment.
Assembles and disassembles various playground equipment; installs all park equipment such as tables, outdoor rinks, benches, backstops, shelters, signs, ski‑lift mats, etc.; paints white lines on sports fields; uses manual or motorized rollers on lawns and tennis courts; installs and repairs nets; maintains ice on outdoor rinks and ski trails.
Cuts grass using scissors, mechanical trimmers, scythes, manual or motorized mowers; installs tree guards; weeds and waters plants; repairs damaged turf.
Clears snow, ice, paper, and debris around buildings and sands access paths.
Sets up and puts away chairs and tables for assemblies; transports boxes, books, binders, files, and similar items.
Washes various vehicles and restores their cleanliness inside and out; moves certain vehicles for washing purposes within the yard, municipal garages, or any other City‑owned location.
Requirements and Qualifications
Ability to read, write, and speak French.
High school diploma (Secondary 5) or equivalent.
Some relevant experience in the role.
Good knowledge of products used for building maintenance.
Good knowledge of modern maintenance and cleaning methods.
Good knowledge of regulations in locker rooms and shower facilities.
Good knowledge of practices used in maintaining public spaces.
Good knowledge of stripping methods.
Ability to operate a three‑wheeled utility vehicle.
Ability to maintain records.
Ability to use household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, scrubbers, scrubber‑vacuum machines, washers, and similar equipment.
Ability to operate an elevator.
Ability to maintain order and inspire respect for authority.
