Oracle DBA – Conversion/Migration Specialist at Affinity
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeing a Oracle DBA – Conversion/Migration Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the database conversion POC, including planning, analysis, execution, and validation
- Run Oracle conversion tools in analysis mode and interpret findings related to data and schema issues
- Identify and remediate data inconsistencies and encoding conflicts that may prevent successful conversion
- Execute the conversion in a non-production environment and validate database stability and integrity
- Work closely with application teams to assess impacts to PL/SQL logic and dependent systems
- Develop documentation, including findings, risks, and recommendations for next steps
- Proactively identify risks, blockers, and areas of uncertainty and communicate them clearly
- Support integration validation to ensure downstream systems continue to function correctly
Qualifications
- Strong background as an Oracle DBA with experience in complex production environments
- Hands-on experience with database migrations, conversions, or major upgrades
- Experience working in environments with limited documentation and high complexity
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Nice to Have
- Government/public sector experience - a strong asset would be core government, but this is not mandatory
- Experience working with Solaris or similar Unix-based environments
- Previous experience supporting Unicode or multi-byte character implementations
