ICI Nouvelle-Écosse is seeking a dynamic Digital Reporter/Editor to lead our digital reporting and storytelling in all its forms. If you are passionate about emerging formats, evolving digital trends and creating engaging web content, this role offers the opportunity to become a prominent digital voice and personality for Radio-Canada in Nova Scotia.
Assignments may include delivering both live and pre-recorded reports, writing compelling stories for the Radio-Canada Nouvelle-Écosse website and producing video content in both vertical and horizontal formats. You will pitch story ideas, conduct thorough research, and write and present news segments for both regional and national programs. We are looking for a creative, motivated and inspiring journalist who is ready to help shape and elevate Radio-Canada Nouvelle-Écosse’s digital identity.
What You Bring
- University degree or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ directly related experience, including a proven track record in the field and strong knowledge of the media industry.
- Excellent reporting and interviewing skills.
- Comfort with live reporting.
- Excellent command of French (French-speaking work environment).
- Ability to develop your own story ideas.
- Intermediate proficiency in English (spoken, written and reading comprehension — BCC level).
- Understanding of the issues that matter to French-speaking communities in the Atlantic region, particularly in Nova Scotia.
- Insight into what motivates young francophone Atlantic Canadians.
- Interest in French-speaking community life in Atlantic Canada.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and programming policies.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends.
- Ability to work with a variety of teams.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to work in a high-stress, tight-deadline environment.
- Experience working on multiple stories simultaneously.
- Understanding of the public broadcaster’s role and responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s licence and a driving record that meets the criteria of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada production applications (iNews, Dalet, Media Central, Scoop, Picto, Adobe Premiere, video editors) an asset.
