Rainy River

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role

Schedule: 7 days on, followed by 7 days off (7/7)

Position Reports To: Superintendent, Mine Maintenance

Position Overview

As a Maintenance Dry Coordinator and Cleaner, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and orderly environment within the Mine Maintenance facilities. Responsibilities include dusting, sweeping, mopping, locker management and other general cleaning tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all surface areas, including bathrooms, lunch trailers, offices, desks, and conference rooms;
  • Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping surfaces and empty garbage and recycle containers in all areas;
  • Ensure the areas are stocked with supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap and dish soap;
  • Use cleaning equipment safely; operate electrical and mechanical equipment when required;
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of cleaning supplies.

Qualifications

  • Janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred;
  • Demonstrated committment to safe working practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols within an industrial or mine environment;
  • Familiar with WHIMIS;
  • Must be able to lift/unload/move cleaning supplies to and from storage location;
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Good communication skills.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $58,000 to 61,000.
