The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donations bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items, using them to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada.

Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. As an employee on the National Diabetes Trust team, you are part of our national coverage in 2,500 communities, with 28 operations and 100 trucks. About The Drop Box Attendant Role

As an Independent Contractor, you will focus on the collection and storage of recycled textiles and small household items from Diabetes Canada donation bins placed throughout the community. You will service and maintain more than 30 donation bins located across 7 sites in the Lethbridge area.

Highlights Of The Role Include

  • Empty donation bins regularly (schedule provided)
  • Bag loose items as required (bags supplied)
  • Ensure cleanliness around the donation boxes
  • Complete weekly service log sheets
  • Transport goods to storage facility when required (storage supplied)
  • Meet the Diabetes Canada Driver to load goods on the truck

About You

The successful candidate for this role will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Availability to work weekends and statutory holidays is required to support daily site inspections and garbage checks.
  • Only applicants who operate/own a large vehicle such as a van, cube van, or pick-up truck will be considered
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Must have or be willing to get an HST #, which is free, and we will help you obtain it
  • You could be eligible for CRA deductions such as vehicle, gas, maintenance, and technology
