About the Position

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean – Technologies (AD) is to provide academic leadership to Schools and programs within the Centre to promote excellence in teaching and learning and to foster a culture of scholarly activity. The AD has responsibility for the development, redevelopment, delivery, and assessment of programs and curriculum to meet an exceptional standard of excellence. The AD provides support and mentorship as the direct supervisor to faculty and staff. The AD supports faculty and staff in their professional development and scholarly activity to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality learning experience.

The Associate Dean works with the Dean, Chairs, and other academic colleagues to establish and implement Centre, School, and program goals and objectives.

Position Details

This position is responsible for:

  • Development and maintenance of curriculum in the Centre.
  • Development and monitoring of tactical and operational plans for designated areas of responsibility.
  • Management of the Faculty and Staff, including human resources.
  • Management of the operating structures, policies, procedures and communications for the Faculty and Staff.
  • Innovative solutions to complex problems while ensuring compliance to polytechnic policies and procedures.
  • Supporting program development and implementation.
  • Supporting student success by working with students and faculty members, as required, to address performance and/or academic issues.
  • Innovative ideas and approaches for new projects and entrepreneurial activities.
  • New program initiatives and proposals.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline is an asset, however, an equivalent combination of relevant credentials and experience will be considered.
  • Experience leading and coordinating the work of other faculty and staff, preparing and monitoring budgets, and performing program planning and administrative work in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and support the range of academic programming within the portfolio including dual credit, certificates, and diplomas.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a range of external government departments and industry organizations (ie. Advanced Education, local and regional Economic Development, Canadian Home Builders Association, TAC, CIPS, etc.).
  • Proven ability to supervise and provide leadership to faculty and staff within a post-secondary environment and context.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering the principles of learner-centeredness.
  • Excellent analytical, research, critique, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven success with faculty and staff development and application of educational technology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Deans and other academic and administrative leaders.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership and the management of change initiatives.
