The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) role emphasizes the critical importance of robust risk management practices that anticipate uncertainty, manage evolving risks, and support strategic decision making in an evolving operating environment.
Reporting to the VP, Risk & Insurance, this role will play a critical leadership role, working with other members of the team, in advancing Emera’s enterprise-wide risk management program by facilitating the development of a consistent and aligned approach to risk management across the organization. This position requires strong judgment, initiative, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization in a fast-moving and often highly sensitive environment.
Key elements of this role include
- Enhancing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Emera’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program and framework.
- Establishing an enterprise-wide Risk Lead Network to drive consistency and alignment of risk practices across operating companies.
- Supporting enterprise risk identification and assessment as well as monitoring processes to ensure a consistent and structured approach.
- Aligning risk management with strategic planning, business operations, and decision-making processes.
- Coordinating enterprise risk reporting, including preparing and presenting materials for executive leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors.
- Driving a strong risk culture through engagement, training, and clear accountability across the organization.
- Supporting alignment between ERM and Business Continuity Management (BCM) initiatives.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Emera and its affiliates, acting as a trusted advisor on risk-related matters.
These skills will make you successful
- An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field of study (graduate degree or professional designation considered an asset).
- Possesses 12+ years of progressive experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit or another related field with a demonstrated ability to identify, assess and mitigate organizational risks.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance and evolve the organization’s approach to risk management by fostering greater risk awareness, strengthening risk consideration in decision making and driving continuous improvement of risk practices.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex, comprehensive information into clear, concise and visually engaging content tailed to diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at senior levels across the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- High level of initiative, curiosity, and adaptability to change.
