Position Title

Residence Life Lead Attendant

Position Summary

Are you looking to contribute to the student experience on campus? We are looking for a permanent full-time position working with the RDP Residence team.

The Residence Life Lead Attendant is responsible for developing, administering and promoting Residence Life on campus. The Residence Life Lead Attendant leads the team of Residence Attendants in creating a community on campus, that contributes to students’ social, psychological and physical wellbeing through programming, events and student interactions.

Position Responsibilities

Customer Service/Administrative Duties

  • Provides administrative support for Residence Move-In, Move-Out, house checks, Maintenance Requests, Emergency evacuations, Daily Residence Operations.
  • Provides administrative support for Guest Accommodation Check-In, Check-Out, Health and Safety Inspections, Maintenance Requests and Emergency Evacuations.
  • Process transactions utilizing point of sale system and maintenance of cash float including daily cash reconciliation.
  • Completes Closing procedures daily.
  • Performs on-call duty responsibilities including responding to residents and guests requests, complaints, emergency situations and general supervision of Residence.

Organizes and Implements Residence Life Programming

  • Oversees the design and development of Residence Life programming and activities.
  • Organizes and implements Residence Orientation with in-person and virtual delivery methods.
  • Liaises with College departments in the organization of Residence Life programs to meet the needs of the Residence Community.
  • Coordinates resource allocations for to the Residence Life Team through the purchase of necessary supplies, required room bookings, or arrangement of necessary off-campus resources.
  • Organizes bi-monthly grocery runs.
  • Organizes and edits the Residence newsletter for monthly publication
  • Organizes and maintains social media presence on approved platforms related to program, and administrative promotion.
  • Updates the Residence calendars and electronic mediums.
  • Coordinates the Tenant of the Year nominations and other Residence Scholarships.
  • Organizes and implements the bi-semester Health + Safety Inspections of Residence units ensuring students are compliant with their rental obligations.

Tenant Association Management

  • Assists with the tracking of the Tenants’ Association budget and the allocation of funds alongside the Residence Operations Coordinator.
  • Makes purchasing decisions on behalf of the Tenants’ Association based on feedback from residents and perceived need.
  • Coordinates the use of the Tenants’ Association van.

Staffing and Supervision

  • Creates the on-duty schedule in consultation with the Resident Attendants and Accommodation Attendants.
  • Chairs bi-monthly Residence Attendants’ meetings.
  • Responsible for organizing and developing an annual Residence Attendant Hiring Campaign.
  • Supports the Residence Attendant Interview and Selection processes.
  • Coordinates annual Performance Evaluation Processes for Residence Attendants.

Required Qualifications

  • One (1) year College certificate, one (1) year University or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • First Aid – CPR certification
  • Minimum 6 months experience working within a Residence environment
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Basic inventory control experience
  • Experience with working with people
  • General computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years of post-secondary training in a related field but not limited to Humanities, Student Development, Management, Student Affairs
