We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager, Trade & Customs, to join our growing Trade & Customs practice. This role is ideal for a professional who combines strong technical customs expertise with the ability to lead client engagements, mentor team members, and contribute to the continued growth of a high-performing advisory practice.
As a trusted advisor, you will assist clients in navigating complex customs and trade regulations while identifying opportunities to manage risk, improve compliance, and optimize cross-border operations. You will work closely with clients across a broad range of industries and collaborate with internal teams to deliver practical, audit-defensible solutions.
As a Manager, Indirect Tax [Trade & Customs] your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage Trade & Customs engagements involving:
o Customs valuation
o Tariff classification
o Origin determination and free trade agreements
o Trade compliance reviews
o Customs audit support
o Voluntary disclosures and corrections
o Duty mitigation and tariff planning strategies
- Conduct technical research and prepare advisory reports, technical memoranda, client presentations, and opinions.
- Liaise with government authorities including CBSA, and other regulatory agencies as required.
- Support clients through customs audits, verifications, assessments, disputes, and appeals.
- Provide practical, risk-based recommendations addressing complex trade and customs challenges.
- Lead engagement planning, execution, and delivery from inception through completion.
- Coach, mentor and develop junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and support ongoing professional development within the team.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, and identify opportunities for additional advisory services and support practice growth initiatives.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Manager, Indirect Tax (Trade & Customs)? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Trade & Customs, international trade, indirect tax, customs compliance, or related advisory services.
- A completion of the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) or equivalent
- Proven ability to manage projects through their full cycle and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
o Customs valuation
o Tariff classification
o Rules of origin
o CUSMA and other trade agreements
o CBSA compliance requirements
o Customs audit and verification processes
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, complex environment and work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
- Results-oriented, quick learner, self-starter, and someone who brings a positive, professional and client-focused approach
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the region as required for client engagements, business development activities, conferences, and firm meetings

We benchmark regularly across a wide spectrum of roles, industries, sectors, and levels to ensure our ranges are both competitive and current. But we don’t stop there. We also consider the unique strengths, experiences, and impact each individual brings to the table. Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors—y our background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity. To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $96,800 to $133,100 in Markham, ON. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
