Shipping Supervisor at Mowi ASA

Mowi Canada West is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our Freshwater team. Reporting to the Hatchery Manager and Assistant Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supporting all freshwater fish transport activities. The role is also responsible for the timely upkeep and readiness of all shipping equipment.

This position supports both Dalrymple and Big Tree Creek hatcheries during shipping activities, working closely with hatchery teams, contractors, and transport providers to ensure smooth and effective operations. When shipping activities are not in progress, work will be focused at the Dalrymple hatchery or other freshwater sites as required. This hands-on role supervises and works alongside a small team of hatchery technicians to oversee shipping activities, contributing to the production of a top-quality product in a safe, organized, and cost-effective manner while following company policies and maintaining equipment standards.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus 2 years of experience in salmon farming or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post-secondary aquaculture certificate or diploma preferred.
• Good critical thinking abilities, decision making abilities, and sound judgement. Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate daily activities, manage competing priorities, and meet production timelines.
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships and support the resolution of day-to-day workplace issues.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g. Aquafarmer, word processing, spreadsheets & databases).
