You will work in collaboration with our Canadian Transportation Market Growth Director and Director of Operations, and our North American and Global Ports & Maritime Leadership to develop and implement a Ports & Maritime growth strategy for Canada. Your time will be split between Principal and market growth responsibilities.
As a Practice Leader, you’ll drive client outreach strategies and relationship development actions, identify key pursuits and lead positioning and proposal efforts. You will be responsible for understanding the unique trends in the Canadian market and using that knowledge to work with our team to create technical differentiation from that of our competitors while serving as an important conduit between our Regional, National, and Global Market Solution (technology) Leaders, Canadian Sales Leaders, and our operations (delivery) leadership and practice staff.
You will serve as a team leader responsible for project stewardship and delivery, client satisfaction, and project & portfolio management. You will provide Ports & Maritime technical and/or project management leadership; responsible for the execution of quality projects in-line with Jacobs’ processes and procedures that are functionally successful, technically sound and respond creatively to client and project needs, expectations, budget and schedule. You will contribute and foster a positive and sustainable interdisciplinary team working environment.
Your knowledge of the market will include port authorities, private operators and entities, local, Provincial, and Federal governments, decision makers, key stakeholders, and short- and long-range capital improvement plans which will be key to your success. - You'll integrate with our local Canadian teams and Global Ports and Maritime team, who are committed to growing our professional services portfolio across Canada.
- You'll build upon your understanding of the Transportation Market, including Ports & Maritime sub-market, and key elements such as decarbonization & electrification, and organize and develop teams to pursue consulting & advisory, planning, design, PMCM, and alternative delivery work.
- You'll support and/or lead client service teams for existing and new clients across the Canadian Ports & Maritime market and our broader Transportation market growth strategy through direct, in-person and virtual interactions with client organizations.
- You will lead or support building strategic win-win relationships with other consulting firms and contractors as partners.
- You'll have the opportunity to immediately engage with existing pursuits and projects in the role that best fits your skill sets and supports your career objectives. You will be a key link between Jacobs global port and maritime expertise and leadership and our Canadian clients and projects.
- You'll have the opportunities to engage with transportation professionals through our internal technical and social communities to help you grow your sales and business development skill sets, engage with peers and mentors, and gain awareness of our global technology and project delivery platforms.
This role will preferably be based in our Burnaby BC office. However, other Jacobs Canadian office locations will be considered.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline, with a recognized Canadian professional designation (e.g., P.Eng.).
- 10+ years of progressive experience leading and delivering Ports & Maritime capital improvement projects across Canada, with strong knowledge of the BC and broader Canadian market; experience with international port clients is considered an asset.
- Established client relationships with public and private sector stakeholders involved in ports, marine terminals, and waterfront development in Canada, with a demonstrated ability to grow accounts and drive repeat business.
- Proven expertise in engineering design and/or delivery of maritime infrastructure, including marine terminals, port facilities, maritime structures, and cargo operations; maritime specialty experience is a plus.
- Understanding of port and terminal market trends, including electrification, decarbonization, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure solutions is a plus.
- Demonstrable experience in strategy development, business development, and sales, including brand positioning, commercialization of services, and guiding major proposals to successful outcomes is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and internationally, and to actively network across the organization nationally and globally to deliver best in class outcomes for clients and project teams.

170,000.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
220,000.00
The base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 to $220,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
