Position Overview

The Aircraft Fueler will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient fueling/defueling of aircraft while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility. Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures in order to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors. Similarly support Inland’s environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization’s impact on the ecosystem;

  • Ensure that Inland is compliant with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;

  • Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;

  • Uphold and follow the duties related to operating and maintaining fueling vehicles, tank farm and other associated equipment according to procedures for both airlines and Inland;

  • Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections, fuel testing inspections on vehicles and tank farm equipment utilizing appropriate checklists;

  • Follow Equipment Fueling SOP’s to ensure optimal readiness during your shift;

  • Follow Aircraft Re-fueling SOP and perform re-fueling in a safe and efficient manner;

  • Follow Tank Farm SOP’s when performing tests, recording data, accepting fuel deliveries and quality control;

  • Ensure accurate accounting of ALL fuel transactions;

  • Calculate fuel distribution for a variety of aircraft;

  • Ensure the correct loading and balancing of fuel;

  • Professionally communicate with airport authority, outside contractor(s) and other stakeholders professionally while representing yourself in the best image for the company;

  • Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;

  • Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin refueling when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement

  • Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;

  • Perform and record light maintenance tasks on Vehicles and Equipment and immediately report any repair requirements;

  • Escort non-security badge holding personnel in accordance with airport escorting procedures;

  • Abide by Health and Safety principles by using issued and available safety equipment as required by SOP’s in the day-by-day operations of the facility;

  • Document and notify management of any irregular operations issues you observe while on shift;

  • Assist in fuel farm and dispatching operations when required;

  • Work cooperatively with all other staff involved in the completion of assigned duties and to maintain communications between other employees and shifts about current conditions of machines;

  • Promote the best interest of the company by fostering goodwill and support between Inland/IDS and its customers ensuring that Inland’s policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;

  • Understand and promote the Company’s mission statement, values and strategic goals;

  • Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;

  • Drive and maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity;

  • To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;

  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Outlook);

  • Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;

  • Interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals;

  • Mathematical competence

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;

  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;

  • General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;

  • Work as part of a team and maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;

  • Comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas;

  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license and a driving record that meets company insurance standards;

  • Valid certificate in the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG);

  • Valid certificate in workplace hazardous materials information system’s (WHMIS);

  • Valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);

  • Valid Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).
