AVC Student EDI Ambassador - Office of Academic and Student Affairs - Atlantic Veterinary College at University of Prince Edward Island
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is seeking applications for one Student EDI Ambassador position.
This position is intended to support the foundational phase of EDI educational and professional development initiatives within the College. This position has a primary focus on finding, organizing, and enhancing access to existing EDI learning resources for faculty, staff, and students. The Ambassador engages in early-stage investigation, organization, and documentation of learning resources.
The Student EDI Ambassador works in collaboration with the AVC EDI Committee and will be supported by the AVC Dean’s Office, the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, and the AVC Wellness Facilitator. These partners will provide guidance, mentorship, and institutional context to support the Ambassador’s work. This role complements existing volunteer student representation on the AVC EDI Committee and is not a formal student representative role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
EDI Learning Resource Organization
- Identify, compile, and organize existing EDI-related learning resources relevant to the AVC community
- Organize resources by theme, audience or learning type to improve usability
- Support the initial development and piloting of a centralized, accessible repository of EDI learning materials
- Document feedback from AVC community to inform future directions/priorities
Communication & Engagement
- Support efforts to increase awareness of available EDI learning resources amongst the AVC Community, including faculty, staff and students
- Assist in the development of multidisciplinary tools to support knowledge of, and engagement with EDI materials
EDI Committee Support & Consultation
- Attend AVC EDI Committee meetings in a support and consultation capacity, complementing existing student membership on the Committee
- Bring perspectives on gaps/barriers in EDI across education, culture, and access to resources
- Update Committee on progress towards goals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current student enrolled in the DVM Program in good academic standing
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a team environment
- Ability to work independently and stay organized while managing goals and timelines
- Interest in and commitment to learning about equity, diversity and inclusion
- Comfort speaking to small groups, such as making brief announcements in an academic setting
- Familiarity with social media platforms and responsible online communication
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- Completion of EDI training is an asset
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
