Brand & Growth Marketing Manager at Port 443
We’re a small but mighty software company in Burlington, Ontario. We’re 100% bootstrapped, profitable, and have been building software for over 13 years. Our three flagship products, My Music Staff, TutorBird, and AthletaDesk, help private music teachers, tutors, and personal trainers run their businesses more smoothly.
We’re also a fully in-office company, and we like it that way. That said, we’re still human. Flexibility is there when it’s needed.
We’re not your typical corporate company that leaves you feeling dead on the inside by Wednesday. Our company mission is literally building a place we want to work. We like being a small team. We don’t want to be a giant company where people don’t even know each other’s names.
Being small also means people can wear different hats, try new things, and actually see the impact of their work. We’re definitely a work hard, play hard kind of team. We care a lot about building useful products, listening to our customers, and showing up like actual humans. That matters to us in how we support our customers and how we treat each other internally.
Other things that matter to us include: donuts, coffee, team lunches, going to Wonderland together, and Mario Kart. We take that sh*t seriously.
About the Role
Okay, back to business.
We’re looking for a Brand & Growth Marketing Manager. This is a role that is being transitioned from the current person responsible because she has too many things on her plate. Including, apparently, writing this job ad to make sure we attract the right person.
The main goal of this role is to help lead our awesome marketing team and make sure our marketing feels connected across all of our brands. That includes paid ads, landing pages, websites, and conversion. But it also includes the bigger-picture stuff too, like social plans, case studies, print ads, customer campaigns, swag, trade shows, and the overall way each brand shows up in the world.
We need someone who can look at all of that and quickly spot what feels weak, off, generic, unclear, or disconnected, and then help make it better.
This is a hands-on role. Very much a player-coach role. You should be comfortable jumping in, shaping the work, giving specific feedback, and coaching from real experience. The entire company is big on collaboration and feeding off each other’s ideas. We don’t do silos. We all know teamwork makes the dream work.
As a fun little spoiler: we also have a new brand launching soon, which means there’s a real chance to help build something from scratch instead of inheriting a pile of old marketing decisions and pretending you love them.
About You
Now let’s talk about you.
First of all, you have to be fun and have a sense of humour, or else you probably won’t survive here. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk marketing.
Your attention to detail is unlike anything else. You’re the kind of person who can zoom out and look at the full picture, but also zoom in and easily spot exactly what is weak, unclear, generic, or missing.
You understand both growth and brand experience. That means you know how paid ads, websites, copy, social, proof, print, campaigns, and customer touchpoints all influence each other. But you also understand branding and visual design. You don’t need to be an expert designer, but you do need to be able to tell good design from bad design and give specific, useful feedback.
You’ve likely done a lot of this work yourself before, which means you know how to coach people from real experience instead of just tossing out vague feedback and hoping for the best.
You’re creative, sharp, and practical. You can come up with witty campaign ideas, shape stronger messaging, coach others to do better work, and still roll up your sleeves and jump in when needed.
You know how to raise the bar without making everything feel weirdly corporate, and you genuinely enjoy helping a team grow into stronger ownership of their areas.
What You Bring
8+ years of B2B marketing experience, with enough hands-on experience across multiple areas of marketing to coach others from real experience
5+ years of experience leading or managing a small team, including regular coaching, feedback, and 1:1s
Strong knowledge of paid advertising, websites, landing pages, and conversion
Experience building and improving campaigns across multiple channels
A sharp eye for copy, creative, and page structure
A solid grasp of SEO/AEO/GEO and how content and site structure support discoverability
Good instincts for prioritization, momentum, and keeping work moving
Comfort working across both growth-focused and brand-focused marketing
The ability to think creatively, challenge generic ideas, and come up with stronger ways to market our brands
A self-starter mindset, strong ownership, adaptability, and genuine curiosity to test things, learn quickly, and keep improving
The ability to make decisions, bring clarity, and move things forward
SaaS experience is strongly preferred, but if you don’t have it and still feel like you’d be a great addition to the team, apply anyway!
What You’ll Do
Lead the day-to-day work of a 5-person marketing team
Hold regular 1:1s with the team to support growth, coaching, and accountability
Help each person take stronger ownership of their role and area
Tie together the work happening across paid ads, websites, landing pages, content, social, case studies, and campaigns
Improve how we turn interest into free trials, and free trials into paying customers
Review marketing work across channels and help raise the bar on quality, clarity, and effectiveness
Coach stronger messaging, sharper copy, and better campaign thinking across the team
Make sure our brands show up in a way that feels thoughtful, consistent, and intentional
Bring more structure to how the team plans, prioritizes, and executes work
Help shape how we launch and market a new brand
Attend trade shows and help shape how our brands show up in person too, not just online
Meet the Team!
Dasa is the one who wrote this ad ( ), and she’s the big-picture thinker, usually chasing one idea and coming up with three more along the way. She helps steer where we’re headed, connects the dots across the business, and fully supports cake for breakfast.
Amarissa keeps our marketing world moving, from campaigns and projects to trade shows and booth life. Outside of work, she’s happiest around horses, or honestly, any animal within a 10-foot radius.
Brendon is the creative eye behind our brands, websites, ads, and anything else that needs to look good. He’s into music, coffee, golf, and skateboarding, though he claims most of his skate tricks are officially retired.
Lauren is our digital marketing pro, making sure our ads find the right people and our budgets behave. She’s also a former escape room designer, current costume maker, and forever Disney park planner.
Adam is our demo and onboarding guy, and somehow makes software feel exciting. He’s also the team’s Zapier expert, gadget seller, and the person most likely to say, “I’ve got a guy for that.”
Colin is our Copywriter & Content Creator, turning ideas into words that actually sound good. He also runs our brand socials, so you’ve probably seen his face already. He collects guitars, loves cars, and has somehow seen KISS 14 times.
