Duties

Reporting to the Manager of Athletics and Recreation, the Gymnasium Assistant provides customer service and support for programs and events in the VIU Gymnasium.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a welcoming, positive customer service experience for VIU students, staff and the public;
  • Support facility/event set up, take down and user group transitions;
  • Provide information on VIU gymnasium, programs, services and memberships;
  • Open or close the facility;
  • General organization and daily cleaning of fitness equipment.

Required Qualifications

Grade 12 plus a minimum of 6 college credits and 6 months of recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of sports and fitness equipment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students, staff and community members.
  • Physical ability to complete cleaning tasks and to move equipment such as bleachers.
