Human Resoures Generalist at Vancouver Pile Driving
Location: North Vancouver, BC |
️ Company: Carlson Construction Group |
Reports to: HR Manager
About the Role
At Carlson Construction Group, we build more than projects — we build teams. Our people are the foundation of everything we do, and we're looking for a Human Resources Generalist who's ready to help shape what a great employee experience looks like across our growing group of companies.
This isn't a role where you sit on the sidelines. You'll be right in the mix — driving recruitment, supporting our teams, and helping build a culture where people genuinely want to do their best work. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love wearing multiple hats, and get energized by seeing your work make a real, visible impact — this is the seat for you.
From onboarding to employee relations to culture-building, you'll touch nearly every part of the employee journey, all while being a trusted go-to across the organization. This is HR with purpose: hands-on, people-focused, and directly tied to how we grow as a business.
What You'll Be Doing
Recruitment & On boarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment across the group — job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer management
- Support and enhance onboarding, engagement, and overall employee experience initiatives
Employee Support & Relations
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees on HR-related matters, providing timely guidance and support
- Manage employee relations, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes with professionalism and fairness
- Apply strong knowledge of employment standards, labour laws, and company policy to ensure compliance
Programs & Performance
- Partner with HR leadership to implement best practices and impactful HR programs
- Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives
- Contribute to compensation and benefits administration, including salary benchmarking and structure alignment
- Coordinate and support internal and external training and development programs
Data, Systems & Communication
- Track and analyze HR metrics, providing insights and reports to support data-driven decision-making
- Support HR system implementations and process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Own company-wide HR communications — drafting and distributing employee announcements, organizational updates, policy changes, and onboarding communications
Culture & Growth
- Support organizational initiatives, including workforce planning, restructuring, and continuous improvement
- Champion employee engagement and culture initiatives that strengthen team performance and morale
- Take on other duties and projects as assigned to support departmental and business goals
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role
- Proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment processes
- Strong understanding of employment standards, labour laws, and HR best practices
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
- Strong ability to build relationships and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Currently enrolled in, actively working toward, or in possession of a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle
Nice to Have
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect HR initiatives to broader business goals
- Experience using data and metrics to inform HR decisions (turnover, engagement, performance)
- Strong proficiency with Excel, dashboards, and HRIS platforms
- Experience supporting process improvements, system implementations, or change initiatives
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills (training experience a strong asset)
