We are looking for a Junior Chemist to join a pharmaceutical laboratory team in Cambridge, Ontario.

In this role, you will perform a variety of analytical testing activities related to raw materials, bulk and finished products, stability samples, complaints, components, and operating supplies. You will work in accordance with established laboratory procedures, GMP requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality guidelines.

Depending on business needs and laboratory activities, you may be assigned to a specific functional area while receiving cross-training to support other areas of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

Perform analytical testing in accordance with internal procedures, specifications, and quality standards.

Conduct chemical and functionality testing of raw materials, bulk products, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, and complaints.

Perform testing using analytical laboratory equipment and wet chemistry techniques.

Maintain, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment.

Review analytical testing performed by other laboratory analysts when required.

Ensure compliance with GMP requirements, regulatory standards, laboratory procedures, and safety guidelines.

Identify and promptly report deviations, out-of-trend results, suspected results, and out-of-specification results.

Participate in laboratory investigations when required.

Support internal and external audits.

Perform testing of non-routine samples related to special studies, investigations, cleaning validation, process validation, and other laboratory activities.

Manage multiple testing priorities while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of assigned activities.

Collaborate effectively within a self-directed laboratory team.

Perform other laboratory-related duties as required.

Profile Requirements

Must-Haves

Degree or diploma in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

1–3 years of relevant professional or laboratory experience.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a laboratory environment.

Ability to work effectively within a self-directed team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Ability to work on-site in Cambridge, Ontario.

Nice-to-Haves

Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment.

Hands-on experience with analytical techniques and equipment such as HPLC, UPLC, ICP-OES, GC, or Ion Chromatography.

Knowledge of USP, EP, or FCC compendial methods.

Experience with stability testing, raw material testing, finished product testing, or analytical method transfers.

Exposure to laboratory investigations, deviations, OOS results, cleaning validation, or process validation.

Expected Compensation Range

60K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.

Canadian Experience Requirement

No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
