Strategic Supports and Inclusion Coach: Secondary Learning & Student Success - 1.0FTE Temp at St. Thomas Aquinas RCS Division
The Strategic Supports Coach: Secondary Learning & Student Success is a division-based teacher leader who partners with secondary teachers to strengthen differentiated instruction, improve outcomes for students with diverse learning needs, and support inclusive classroom practices. The coach will provide job-embedded coaching that helps teachers address increasing classroom complexity while maintaining high expectations for all learners.
This position focuses on supporting teachers as they respond to significant literacy and numeracy gaps, student mental health and well-being, and the diverse academic, behavioural, and social-emotional needs present in today's secondary classrooms. The coach will collaborate with school teams to develop practical instructional strategies, connect teachers with appropriate resources, and strengthen inclusive practices that improve student engagement and achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach secondary teachers in differentiated and responsive instructional practices.
- Support teachers in addressing literacy and numeracy gaps within subject-area instruction.
- Assist teachers in developing strategies for students with complex learning, behavioural, and social-emotional needs.
- Support schools in implementing inclusive classroom practices.
- Collaborate with administrators, learning support teams, and teachers to address emerging student needs.
- Connect schools and families with appropriate community and mental health supports when appropriate.
- Facilitate professional learning related to differentiation, inclusion, student well-being, and instructional practices.
- Model instructional strategies through co-planning, co-teaching, and classroom coaching.
- Travel regularly to schools throughout the division.
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Successful secondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction and inclusive education.
- Knowledge of adolescent mental health, literacy and numeracy intervention, and responsive instructional practices.
- Strong coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience leading adult learning and supporting school improvement initiatives is considered an asset
Compensation will be in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
