The Opportunity

Our Lakehead Pipeline team is expanding our team in one of Iles Des Chene, MB, Kenora, ON, or Thunder Bay, ON, to support our Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines business. This position requires application of mechanical and technical skills to ensure our natural gas transmission pipelines meet the availability, reliability and safe continuous operation.

We are seeking a Pipeline Technician who has knowledge and experience in natural gas transmission pipeline operation and maintenance. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to act as the primary isolation coordinator. They will also operate, maintain, test, and inspect our natural gas pipeline, valves & operators as well as associated pipeline building assemblies in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's safety, health, environment and risk standards
  • Perform inspections related to valve servicing, troubleshooting and repair
  • Assist with all aspects of pipeline isolation and gas handling
  • Support various tasks associated with inline inspection
  • Perform basic One Call line locates
  • Assist with all types of Line Crossings (foreign or seismic) of TransCanada Pipe Assets
  • Identify encroachment issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Journeyman certification in a trade or two years of post-secondary training
  • 2 - 5 years related work experience
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant work experience related to Pipeline maintenance activities
  • Experience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance and repair
  • Experience operating and maintaining high pressure natural gas pipelines and/or facilities
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experience
  • Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up 50% of work schedule)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures
  • Successfully complete pre-employment Credit, Civil and Criminal background checks
