About the Role

The Plant Engineer is responsible for collaboratively developing, planning, and executing the plant capital strategy for the Brantford, ON, facility, a manufacturer of quality griddle products, to align with business unit priorities. This role leads cross-functional teams to manage and deliver capital projects, improve operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and support site-wide goals related to safety, product quality, and environmental sustainability.

You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

  • Plan, scope, gain approval for, and implement projects aligned with the site's master capital plan and business priorities.
  • Lead multiple projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Manage assigned capital projects, including safety, scope of adherence, commissioning, qualification, verification, timeline, cash flow, and budget tracking.
  • Follow Capital Initiative Management processes and ensure consistent communication with stakeholders and teams.
  • Partner with the capital sourcing manager to develop and execute procurement strategies.
  • Manage site technical drawings and document retention.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support for critical operational issues.
  • Lead root cause failure analysis and implement engineered solutions.
  • Work with site leadership, Quality, EHS, Supply Planning, R&D, Maintenance, Finance, and IT teams to deliver strategic and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the center engineering team to execute large-scale projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, environmental impact, food safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve employee safety, environmental outcomes, food quality, equipment reliability, and operational costs.
  • Serve as the Initiative Management Pillar Leader for the site, ensuring alignment with Lean Capital processes.
  • Develops business case scopes, schedules, and estimates for new project ideas and secure inclusion in the capital plan.

Important Details

  • This is a full-time, on-site role on First Shift. Occasional flexibility is required to support alternate shifts.
  • The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $81,100.00 - 121,700.00 CAD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.

You’ll fit right in if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required; consumer packaged goods or food/beverage experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Capital Initiative Management processes and continuous improvement methodologies is required.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma techniques and tools is preferred.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is preferred; SAP Plant Maintenance knowledge is a plus.
  • Formal project management training or certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills are required.
  • Experience creating, executing, and monitoring manufacturing technical standards and procedures is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • CADD proficiency is preferred
