Project Controller at REDPATH MINING

The Project Controller is responsible for the planning and performance monitoring of assigned projects,

including providing guidance to operational managers through the implementation of project controls

processes, procedures and contracts. The incumbent must be able to understand contracts,

subcontracts, track daily, weekly and monthly project performance, and incorporate quantitative and

qualitative analysis, to define both the physical and the economic performance of the projects and

recommend action to be taken should deviations from the optimal performance be highlighted.

The incumbent will work to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently

achieved. The Project Controller must be conversant in the discipline of project management, oversee

the development, implementation and maintenance of project baselines, project execution plans,

execution of contracts, inclusive of overseeing the setup of project administrative aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company and national health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring project teams prioritize safety and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain oversight of safety compliance tracking and reporting to support proactive risk

management.

  • Define and establish project control baselines, execution plans, and project procedures.
  • Oversee the setup of new projects, including timekeeping, cost tracking, coding structures, and

document management.

  • Track and update project costs, budgets, and schedules to maintain financial and operational

efficiency.

  • Implement budget controls, cost allocations, and financial forecasting to ensure alignment with

project objectives.

  • Maintain and monitor earned value management (EVM) metrics, cost indices, and project

performance tracking.

  • Develop automated reporting and dashboards for real-time project performance tracking.
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports to support decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze trends impacting cost, schedule, risks, and project scope, ensuring

proactive issue resolution.

  • Implement and maintain Management of Change (MoC) processes to track and control project

modifications.

  • Track and manage financial impacts of scope changes and cost deviations.
  • Perform construction change order analysis and claims tracking to mitigate financial and

contractual risks.

  • Ensure proper project cost structures and financial tracking to maintain project accountability.
  • Monitor risk trends and site statistics, providing insights into potential project impacts.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and

data accuracy.

  • Manage meeting documentation, action tracking, and approvals to ensure project continuity.
  • Finalize close-out reports, cost tracking, and production data documentation for future reference.
  • Store and analyze historical project data to support continuous improvement and benchmarking.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned to enhance future project planning and execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project controls personnel, ensuring adherence to industry best

practices.

  • Monitor team performance and skill development to enhance operational effectiveness.

Salary Range (Base): $96,000 - $132,000 - Based on knowledge, skills and experience.

Qualifications

Education

Required: University degree in a related scientific, business or engineering field

Preferred: University degree (business or engineering) in quantity surveying, cost estimating or

Mining. Additional Qualifications And/or Certification(s) In Quantity Surveying (professional

QS), project management (PMP), contract administration and key performance indicator

measurement will be considered an asset.

Work Experience

Required: 5 Years of post-graduate field and/or office-based project accounting, estimating or

controls experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining

environment, with knowledge of project management, construction contracts, reporting

and data manipulation

Preferred: 7 Years of post-graduate project accounting, estimating or project controls experience in

mining, shaft sinking, lateral development, raiseboring, mechanized raise climbing or

similar underground construction projects with a sound knowledge of contract principles,

KPI reporting and data manipulation into management information
