Behind our customers - amazing companies that help feed the world, provide life-saving medicine on a global scale, and focus on clean water and green mobility - our people are energized problem solvers that take pride in how the work we do changes the world for the better.
We welcome all makers, forward thinkers, and problem solvers who are looking for a place to do their best work. And if that’s you we would love to have you join us!
As a Mechanical Designer, you will apply a strong foundation in mechanical design with system level reasoning to develop AMRs. Working as an individual technical contributor within a cross‑functional robotics team, you will influence system architecture and then transform high-level concepts into highly functional and reliable mechanical subsystems that integrate seamlessly with electrical and software subsystems. You will work hands-on with the team to resolve complex system level issues through detailed root cause analysis and debugging. You will help ensure the system meets applicable requirements across the full AMR product lifecycle, from concept through deployment and sustained operation, while always looking for ways to improve our processes and workflows. You will report to Manager, Mechanical Systems and have a hybrid schedule working in Waterloo, ON.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design of AMR mechanical subsystems such as chassis structures, suspension systems, payload structures, and safety-related mechanical features by developing detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis including structural analysis, fatigue and durability assessments, tolerance analysis, thermal analysis, torque calculations, and vibration analysis
- Conduct hands-on validation and debugging, including the design and support of prototype builds, the investigation of failures and root cause analysis, and the development of product improvements based on test and field data
- Support the Supply Chain and Production teams by collaborating with suppliers on component qualification, implementing corrective actions for manufacturing issues, supporting production ramp-up, and participating in the ECO process
- Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation such as service bulletins, standard operating procedures, and maintenance manuals
