About this opportunity

The Wireless Telecom Network Technician within Field Service Organization in Canada is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both wireless RAN infrastructure and core/data center network systems supporting LTE and 5G networks. This role bridges field operations and core network support, ensuring end-to-end service availability from cell site to core network. The technician works across: Cell sites (macro, rooftop, small cells), central offices and switching centers, data centers hosting EPC and 5G Core platforms. The Candidate must be flexible to work in an On Call schedule as needed.

What you will do

  • Experience with LTE and 5G RAN integration, including RRU, Massive MIMO radios, and Baseband Unit (BBU) installation and commissioning.
  • Skilled in RF testing and troubleshooting, including VSWR, PIM, sweep testing, sector outage resolution, and network performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience supporting microwave backhaul installation and transport connectivity.
  • Knowledge of LTE EPC (MME, SGW, PGW) and 5G Core functions (AMF, SMF, UPF), with experience monitoring alarms using OSS/NMS tools.
  • Experience performing fiber cross-connects, structured cabling, and replacing hardware components such as line cards, SFPs, and power modules.
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including VLANs, IP addressing, routing, and transport connectivity verification.
  • Familiarity with BGP/OSPF troubleshooting under engineering guidance and end-to-end service validation.
  • Experience supporting incident response, emergency restorations, planned maintenance, hardware swaps, live network upgrades, and on-call operations.
  • Strong knowledge of change management, MOP procedures, as-built documentation, inventory management, and compliance with RF safety and Canadian OHS standards.
  • Solid understanding of LTE (4G), 5G NSA/SA architecture, RAN components, RF fundamentals, EPC, and 5G Core technologies.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, Diameter, AAA, Linux administration, and virtualization platforms such as VMware and OpenStack. Proficient in using telecom test equipment and tools, including OTDR, PIM Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, and console/CLI utilities.

The skills you bring

  • Diploma in Telecommunications, Networking, Electronics, or a related technical discipline
  • 3 plus years of hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry (RAN and Core network experience preferred)
  • Valid tower climbing certification (where applicable)
  • Valid Canadian driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned province or region
  • Comfortable working in both outdoor field environments and secure data center/central office facilities
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across OSI Layers 1–3
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end network architecture, traffic flow, and service delivery
  • Proven ability to work independently and respond effectively during critical network incidents
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities
  • Adaptable and capable of performing in fast-paced, mission-critical environments

Your Pay

The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

The salary range for this position is

  • British Columbia: $64,000 - $81,375

Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan (STV) : Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employee’s contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan, up to 8% of the employee’s contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two-times annual base pay at no cost, as well as short-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.

Your Time

Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, at least 3personal days, minimum 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
