Engineer, Electrical at SaskEnergy
SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Electrical provides engineering services to safely support the operation, maintenance, improvement, and expansion of the Corporation’s electrical and instrumentation systems and associated facilities. This includes applying sound engineering and industry principles, standards, practices, and technology; and identification and recommendation of effective business solutions supporting departmental and Corporate objectives.
Position Details
- Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage multiple projects which includes; executing cost estimate and control measures, development of design scopes, procurement of design services and materials, management of contractor and consulting resources, coordination of disciplinary project activities with internal and external groups, detailed approvals and outage planning, support of construction and commissioning activities and project close out administration.
- Prepare, review and approve detailed designs and associated cost estimates for multidiscipline projects to accommodate, system improvement and expansion for the transmission, compression and storage systems. Designs will align with approved engineering practices, procedures and standards.
- Provide system and project design optimization for projects through detailed analysis, engineering assessments and other technical measures for SaskEnergy distribution, transmission, compression and storage facilities.
- Provide occasional technical support to internal groups relative to facility design, operation, and cost estimating procedures, code or standard practices and system capacity through the application of engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of technical problems.
- Participate in the development of new technology, products, standards, procedures, processes and specifications, ensuring modifications are reflected in future designs and comply with industry standards and specifications.
- Prepare and deliver training relative to technical electrical engineering processes and procedures.
- Maintain an awareness of industry and legislative developments and evaluate and prepare recommendations for new technology and products.
- Assist with the development of plans and business cases to optimize complex systems, technologies and facilities while challenging current practices for capital strategic and operational projects, electrical standards and support strategies.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic Systems Engineering is preferred, others may also be considered).
- Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
- Five (5) years of progressive industry experience and demonstrated competency in the field of practice.
- Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
An Engineer-in-training (new graduates or those with less than five years’ experience) may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required.
- A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

P.Eng $81,613.00 - $117,050.00
EIT $72,913.00 - $102,066.00
