Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future. Utilities around the world rely on our nuclear fuel products to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco’s corporate office is based in Saskatoon. We have mining operations and projects in northern Saskatchewan, Kazakhstan, the United States and Australia. We are also a leading supplier of uranium refining, conversion, and fuel manufacturing services from our operations in Ontario.
The Role
In this position, you will work as part of Cameco’s category management team within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) department by developing lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers based on continuous improvement in performance and total cost of ownership.
This is a 22-month temporary position.
In This Role, You Will
- Manage the chemicals & feedstocks category across Cameco’s Mining & Fuel Services divisions, as well as a portfolio of suppliers providing critical commodities.
- Develop an overarching / long-term category strategy for chemicals & feedstocks, including market intelligence research across the global chemicals industry & supplier landscape.
- Identify sourcing opportunities and execute commodity sourcing strategies for the assigned portfolio of chemicals and feedstocks.
- Lead the full source-to contract life cycle of strategic sourcing events (RFx or single source initiatives) in line with the overarching category strategy.
- Assist in supply risk management initiatives and execute risk mitigation actions.
- Conduct regular supplier business reviews and monitor their performance by developing KPIs and scorecards to provide fact-based feedback on supplier service level during SRM meetings.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in supply chain management, category management, supplier relationship management and/or strategic sourcing;
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- Proven track record of cost savings with large suppliers through execution of sourcing strategies and contract negotiations;
- Superior negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills, with proficient ability to prioritize workload;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills maintaining a variety of communication channels to support stakeholders;
- High level of computer proficiency, specifically with MS Office and SAP software;
- Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and build trust with internal stakeholders across all levels in the organization; and
- Excellent organizational and change management skills.
Recommended
- Chemical, industrial or mechanical engineering degree;
- Previous experience in managing a major chemicals category;
- Significant knowledge and hands-on experience with extracting supplier spend data from SAP and performing comprehensive data analytics in Excel;
- SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation; and
- Lean Six Sigma training.

This position is eligible for the employee referral bonus.
You will have the opportunity to work remote in this position. However, there may be the need for intermittent meetings in the Saskatoon office/travel to site. The details of this flex work arrangement will be discussed with you in the recruitment process.
