The Investment Data Analyst plays a key role in ensuring investment data is accurate, complete, and timely to support asset managers and teams responsible for risk measurement, performance reporting, and management reporting. This position is responsible for investment data operations, data quality reviews, reporting support, and issue resolution across a range of investment data processes. It is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented data professional to contribute to investment data management, analytics, performance reporting, and operational controls while working in a collaborative Asset Management environment.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do
- Support the operation of the investment data landscape, including data quality monitoring, issue investigation, and resolution activities.
- Review monthly and quarterly reports to ensure the completeness and accuracy of investment data, taking appropriate corrective action when issues are identified.
- Support and enforce established data standards, governance practices, and guidelines related to investment and master data.
- Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, reporting processes, and overall data management practices.
- Create, maintain, and enrich master data records with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for master data creation and maintenance, including data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing activities.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance custom reports using internal systems, data vendors, and reporting tools.
- Extract, transform, analyze, and report on data from primary and secondary sources using automated tools and processes.
- Support risk measurement, investment capital, investment cash flow, performance, attribution, benchmark reporting, and management information reporting.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational risk management by following established procedures and identifying process gaps or potential risks.
What you’ll bring
- University degree in Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- One to three years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a related analytical role.
- Experience with ELT and ETL data processing concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience managing, manipulating, validating, and interpreting complex data sets.
- Experience using data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Knowledge of database management, data platform architecture, data modelling, database optimization, and data management practices.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, including SQL, Python, and VBA.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to perform complex calculations and analysis.
- Strong technical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities, including identifying data anomalies and supporting issue resolution.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to reporting accuracy, and strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across Asset Management, Technology, Compliance, and Finance.
