About The Role
The UX/UI Designer will be an integral part of the Experience Design team within the e-Commerce division at Home Depot Canada. This role is responsible for translating complex business, technical, and customer challenges into simple, elegant digital solutions that enhance user engagement across homedepot.ca and the Home Depot mobile application. The ideal candidate will leverage research, data insights, and intuitive design principles to create user-centric experiences that align with business objectives. This position requires a creative yet organized approach to developing wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that optimize interaction and usability. The UX/UI Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, IT, and other UX professionals, to ensure designs meet standards and deliver measurable value. Success in this role involves effective communication of design concepts, balancing customer needs with business goals, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- University or college degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional UX/UI design experience
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Miro (asset)
- Experience with UX methodologies including research, ideation, prototyping, interaction design, and usability testing
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a breadth of UX work across different project phases
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Data analysis skills and the ability to interpret user research insights
- Knowledge of digital style guides and adherence to brand standards
Responsibilities
- Craft end-to-end user experiences that align with business strategies and objectives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of usability processes, documentation, and workflows
- Create visual designs and product elements that enhance user interaction, considering research and industry best practices
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos
- Collaborate with UX analysts, designers, copywriters, and product managers to develop scenarios, wireframes, and screen designs
- Follow and uphold The Home Depot Canada’s digital style guide for all design elements
- Present UX/UI concepts clearly for feedback, approval, and implementation
- Develop visual annotations and functional specifications for development teams
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines
- Maintain open communication with developers throughout the UX process to ensure design fidelity and usability
- Mentor and introduce UX principles to non-UX team members when appropriate
