Tasu Construction is a Western Canada–based construction company specializing in the installation and delivery of high-quality modular and camp facilities. We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Lead to oversee plumbing and mechanical scopes on upcoming modular construction and workforce accommodation projects.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, field-based leadership role ideal for a qualified plumber with strong supervisory experience, construction coordination skills, practical job budgeting awareness, accurate material take-offs, and the ability to lead tradespeople and subcontractors in active project environments. The Plumbing Lead will support pre-construction planning, onsite execution, safety, quality control, inspections, commissioning, and turnover of plumbing and mechanical systems.

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Remote, project-based work
  • Rotational schedule as required by project needs
  • Travel required throughout Western Canada for modular and camp facility projects
  • Work may take place in construction site, remote site, and camp environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate plumbing crews, apprentices, and subcontractors, including assigning work, monitoring productivity, coaching team members, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification
  • Execute plumbing work directly when project demands require, while maintaining quality and safety expectations
  • Direct plumbing, gas, HVAC, septic, potable water, civil utility, and related mechanical work to ensure drawings, specifications, codes, and scope requirements are followed
  • Read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, schematics, shop drawings, and technical documents to plan and complete work
  • Develop and coordinate daily work plans, schedules, manpower requirements, materials, tools, and equipment in collaboration with the Operations Manager and project team
  • Support job budgeting and cost control by forecasting labour, materials, tools, and equipment needs, tracking actual usage, and communicating budget or productivity concerns to the Operations Manager
  • Complete material take-offs, verify quantities against project scope, and support timely material ordering
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including daily site reports, progress updates, deficiency tracking, material records, and other project records as required
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including design input, constructability review, site assessments, budgets, schedules, and coordination of septic, potable water, civil, and utility requirements
  • Support mechanical estimating by reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bills of quantities
  • Identify and resolve field issues, trade conflicts, deficiencies, and productivity constraints in a timely and practical manner
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, deficiency correction, and turnover activities with inspectors, consultants, subcontractors, and other trades
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to plumbing tradespeople and apprentices as project workload requires
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements, and contribute to a strong safety culture
  • Maintain communication with the Operations Manager, project team, site supervisors, subcontractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders regarding progress, material needs, schedule impacts, and site issues
  • Maintain Tasu’s professional image by demonstrating strong communication, accountability, organization, and by keeping a clean, safe, and orderly job site

Qualifications

  • Red Seal/Journeyperson Plumber certification required
  • 5+ years of experience in plumbing and/or mechanical construction
  • 3+ years of construction supervision or lead-hand experience
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing, gas, HVAC, septic, potable water, civil utility, and related mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schematics, technical drawings, and construction documents
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial building codes, occupational health and safety regulations, WorkSafeBC requirements where applicable, and construction safety practices
  • Experience coordinating inspections, testing, commissioning, deficiency management, and project turnover activities
  • Proven field leadership skills with the ability to assign work, monitor progress, and maintain accountability for safety, quality, and schedule
  • Experience with job budgeting, labour and material forecasting, and material take-offs from construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, consultants, clients, and other trades
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain efficiency in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and digital tools for reporting, documentation, drawings, material take-offs, budgeting support, deficiencies, scheduling, or project coordination
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Physically capable of performing outdoor construction work in varying weather conditions and able to pass an industry-related physical fitness test
  • Camp, modular, workforce accommodation, or remote construction experience is an asset
  • First Aid, Fall Protection, WHMIS, or other construction safety training is an asset
