Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Licensing and Enforcement, the Licensing and Enforcement Coordinator provides front-line licensing services by reviewing applications, verifying documentation, and issuing licences in accordance with Regional by-laws and established procedures. The role also verifies payments both in person and online, ensures accurate data entry and reconciliation, and maintains accurate, compliant, and up-to-date licensing records.
In addition, the coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the unit. This includes supporting Licensing Appeals Committee hearings, scheduling staff meetings and preparing minutes, and triaging complaints and enforcement matters for referral to the Supervisor of Business Licensing and Enforcement.
Qualifications
Education
Two (2) year College Diploma in Office Administration, Law and Security, Police Foundations, regulatory compliance or a related enforcement field.
Training in document verification, evidence handling, and regulatory interpretation is considered an asset.
Knowledge / Experience
Two (2) or more years of experience in licensing, permit processing, or related regulatory administration.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and verifying documents to determine completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory and/or legislative requirements.
- Experience applying relevant legislation, by-laws, policies, and procedures within an enforcement, regulatory, or licensing environment.
- Experience managing and safeguarding sensitive or confidential information in accordance with statutory requirements
Skills
Strong accuracy and attention to detail when verifying applicant information and issuing licences in compliance with regulatory standards.
Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple demands and re-adjust priorities as required.
Proficient in using the MS Office suite of software including Excel; internal incident management, licensing databases, and provincial databases
Strong customer service skills including de-escalation techniques and tact and diplomacy skills necessary to deal with diverse customers.

In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Police Check
Must sign an Oath of Secrecy and Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
