We are looking for a Personal Development Guide to join our Community Inclusion team! Ideally, this individual must be flexible, able to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated with valid driver’s license.

Description Of Position

Reporting to: Andrea DeWolff, Home Share Manager

General Responsibilities

  • Develop a supportive rapport with clients in service while providing interest, empathy, and encouragement while working on their personal goals
  • Collaborate with individuals and their support networks to co-design services that emphasize learning, relationship-building, community involvement, and life skills tailored to each individual
  • Support with functional life skills for daily living
  • Able to actively seek out new community/ social/ vocational opportunities and experiences

Program-specific Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, hands-on support for participants as they explore their communities and develop a sense of belonging and independence
  • Be willing and able to attend the local gym, exercise classes and the pool
  • Willing and able to teach the navigation of public transit

Physical Demands Of Job

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 25%, Walking/Moving Around - 75%, Sitting - 25%, Time spent outside - 50%

Cognitive Demands Of Job

  • Independent Work - 75%, Task Memorization - 50%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 75%, Writing/Reading - 50%

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with individuals that have developmental disabilities.
  • First Aid and Food Safe (preferred)
