Position Summary
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Social Media Communications Assistant - Recreation will assist with social media, content creation, and recreational activities and events coverage. The selected candidate must be creative and collaborative in helping to bring these activities and events to life online.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for a wide range of recreational activities and sporting events.
- Help in producing game day and score update graphics using Canva or Photoshop
- Report on game scores in real-time
- Collaborate with players, fans, and the athletics community to capture and share game-day moments
- Continue to build excitement, pride, and support for McGill’s varsity teams through fun & fresh content that resonates with the McGill Athletics brand and online presence
- Assist in producing promotional material and providing specific information to queries.
- Performs specific editing and reviewing of documents, audio, video and web maintenance as required. Some graphic design and photo editing may be required.
- Monitors and posts social media content to various platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
- Compiles and reports data in reports and manual updates as required.
- Provides technical support for graphic and photo software as well as some A/V equipment.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Be passionate and knowledgeable about a wide variety of sports and have a solid grasp of the recreational sports landscape
Ability to multitask and confident working in a fast-paced digital environment
Enjoy creating content and are familiar with how other schools or professional teams run their game day social media
Note: Working hours will vary daily depending on upcoming activities, events and programs.

Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4 .
