The Sheet Metal Foreperson leads field execution for Modern Niagara's Special Projects Team in Calgary. They provide day-to-day supervision of sheet metal crews across a variety of retrofit, tenant improvement, service, and special project assignments, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Lead safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of sheet metal work across multiple special project assignments.
Support project success through effective coordination of labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Foster a positive and productive team environment through mentorship, coaching, and leadership.
Build strong relationships with clients, project managers, and site partners to ensure exceptional customer service and repeat business.
Promote and maintain Modern Niagara's industry-leading health and safety culture.
Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise and support sheet metal field crews on active project sites.
Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules and milestones.
Ensure labour, materials, tools, and equipment are available and utilized effectively.
Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure adherence to all health and safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Coordinators, and other trades to identify and resolve project challenges.
Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to support successful execution.
Track project progress and communicate status updates, risks, and resource requirements.
Mentor apprentices and junior team members, providing technical guidance and support.
Participate in site meetings and contribute to planning discussions.
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Must Haves
Journeyperson Sheet Metal certification.
Previous experience leading sheet metal crews in a foreperson or supervisory capacity.
Strong understanding of commercial and institutional HVAC and sheet metal systems.
Proven commitment to health and safety best practices.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the Calgary region.
Nice to Haves
Experience within retrofit, tenant improvement, service, or special projects environments.
Knowledge of building automation systems and mechanical systems integration.
Experience using construction management software and digital field reporting tools.
First Aid, CSTS, WHMIS, or other relevant safety certifications.
Experience mentoring apprentices and developing field talent.
