We are currently seeking a Organizational Development and Inclusion Specialist(6 months) to join our Human Resources team.

This is a six-month contract opportunity focused on supporting key Organizational Development and Inclusion initiatives. A primary assignment for this role will be the design, development, and implementation of Respectful Workplace and Inclusive Compliance training programs. The successful candidate will bring strong instructional design expertise and experience developing engaging online learning content, including SCORM-compliant courses using authoring tools such as Articulate 360, H5P, or similar platforms for delivery through a Learning Management System (LMS)

Job Overview

This role reports to the Manager, Organizational Development and Employee Experience & Talent.

The Organizational Development & Inclusion Specialist is a collaborative and solutions-focused professional who is passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences and helping people, teams, and leaders thrive.

Working as part of the Organizational Development team, this role leads and supports a broad range of organizational development initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, employee engagement, talent development, change management, and workplace culture. The Specialist designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates innovative programs that enhance the employee experience while supporting the University's strategic priorities.

This position plays a key role in advancing organizational development and HR initiatives through meaningful collaboration, thoughtful facilitation, and effective project management. Partnering with leaders, employees, and cross-functional stakeholders, the Specialist helps identify organizational needs, develop practical solutions, and implement programs that foster an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing workplace.

A key focus of this role is supporting the continued growth of the Organizational Development team while partnering closely with the Office of Equity and Inclusive Communities (OEIC) to advance HR-specific Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives. The Specialist will help integrate inclusive practices into organizational development programs, policies, and processes while leading the coordination and implementation of HR-led EDI initiatives aligned with institutional priorities.

Projects may include

Leading the redesign and development of Respectful Workplace and Inclusive Compliance training programs.

Translating policy, compliance, and EDI-related content into engaging, learner-centered online learning experiences.

Collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure learning content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Supporting course implementation, learner tracking, reporting, and evaluation through the University's Learning Management System (LMS).

Continuing and enhancing existing talent development initiatives, including succession planning programs and leadership enablement offerings, through program design, facilitation support, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation activities.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Business Administration etc.);

Minimum of five (5) years working in the OD or HR field/sound knowledge of HR practices and programs;

Basic understanding of EDI principles and eagerness to learn more about organizational development and change management;

Training or certification in equity, diversity, and inclusion, or similar;

Strong knowledge of OD principles, change management methodologies, and talent development strategies;

Experience in designing and delivering training programs, workshops, and coaching sessions;

Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills;

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion work.

Demonstrated understanding of OD and HR programs, practices and policies.

Demonstrated understanding of unconscious bias, microaggressions, and intersectionality.

Demonstrated experience in group facilitation.

Experience in working with individuals from equity-denied groups.

Demonstrated ability to be aware and support others’ needs.

Demonstrated ability to support tough conversations.

Working knowledge of human rights laws and other relevant legislation.

Practical experience successfully leading, creating and implementing sustainable organizational development initiatives using change management principles, practices and methodologies.

Excellent communication, presentation and networking abilities.

Experience conducting needs assessments, developing training, communications & engagement strategies, and designing customized learning solutions.

Effective facilitation skills including the ability to motivate and influence senior leaders and employees when needed.

Ability to build effective work relationships with internal and external parties and work in a collaborative manner within a complex organization.

Understanding of leadership models and competency frameworks.

Experience with qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis.

Strong communication skills (both oral and written).

Strong presentation skills, including experience delivering to both small and large audiences.

Ability to work independently and effectively as a leader or member of a team.

Ability to cope with and tackle ambiguous situations to meet project deadlines and deliverables.

Ability to design, deliver, and source programming and/or training.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Ability to interpret and apply university and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Ability to multi-task, be self-directed, and to make decisions to meet deadlines.

Ability to travel between campuses.

Salary Information

The above compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. Typically, initial salary placement is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum. This represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job with consideration given to internal equity.
