Personal Support Worker at CareQuilt
About the Client
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a couple in their home. Mom has been diagnosed with early-stage dementia and needs memory support, while Dad is her primary caregiver and could use assistance. This is their first time receiving professional care. They're exploring options to help them stay comfortable and independent at home. The family has noticed changes in Mom's memory and recognizes the need for additional support around the house.
Responsibilities
- Provide memory prompts and gentle redirection for Mom as needed
- Assist with medication reminders to ensure proper management
- Help with light meal preparation, including reheating food
- Perform light housekeeping and tidying to maintain a comfortable environment
- Offer companionship and engage both parents in meaningful activities
- Support Dad in his caregiving role by providing respite and assistance
- Monitor safety and well-being during visits
- Communicate clearly with the family about any changes or concerns
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with clients who have dementia or memory changes
- Calm, patient demeanor with ability to bring positive energy to the home
- Strong communication skills and reliability
- Ability to make both parents feel comfortable and respected
- Takes initiative when needed while respecting their independence
- English-speaking
- Experience supporting multiple clients or couples preferred
- Understanding of cognitive support techniques including prompts and redirection
Schedule
This is a part-time position requiring a few visits each week. Tuesdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The family is looking for consistency and reliability in scheduling to help establish a comfortable routine for both parents.

CAD$25.00/hr
