Description Intermediate Financial Analyst

As an Intermediate Financial Analyst, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting financial operations, managing contracts, conducting project audits, and performing detailed cost analysis to ensure the seamless delivery of land titles, motor vehicle, and registry services. Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, tracking actual results and projected expenditures
  • Validate and process vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms in SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Develop and maintain project financial models, conduct cost analyses, and prepare reports highlighting variances and trends
  • Manage procurement activities including creating purchase orders and service entry sheets in SAP Ariba
  • Support contract management by drafting and reviewing vendor contracts in a complex public sector environment
  • Assist in audit preparations and respond to inquiries with detailed documentation
  • Maintain thorough financial documentation and ensure adherence to governance standards

Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or finance (degrees, diplomas, certificates accepted)
  • Proven experience with advanced Excel functions such as Pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Hands-on experience managing project budgets, reviewing vendor invoices, and working with SAP or equivalent ERP systems
  • Familiarity with Canadian public sector accounting standards or similar frameworks
  • Ability to accurately manage financial data, perform cost modeling, and analyze financial trends
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving prowess

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with trade agreements, Public Works Act, or relevant legislation
  • Expertise in contract drafting, review, and compliance management
  • Knowledge of government financial systems such as 1GX, Ariba, and related processes
  • Background in process improvement and documentation—creating standards and guidelines
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, audit requirements, and risk assessment tools
  • Familiarity with IT accounting and vendor management workflows

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or finance
  • Experience working in the public sector or government environments is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work remotely with occasional onsite attendance (up to 4 times per year)
  • Self-sufficient with own computer equipment compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop
